Special Home Adaptations 

Special home adaptations are grants the VA provides to eligible severely disabled veterans to construct or modify a residence to improve mobility and daily functioning. The Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) grant provides funds to build a new residence. In contrast, the Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) grant provides funds to modify an existing home. Modifications may include installing wheelchair ramps, widening doors, or upgrading bathrooms.
